Overview:
Great Ocean Sports Festival – Otway Adventure Race, is an adventure race where participants follow a designated set course. The course takes in many of the activities on offer in the Great Ocean Sports Festival and combines them together with a few extra elements of fun and endurance activities.

There are no navigational requirements for the race, as marshals man all checkpoints and deviations from main trails. Water stages are clearly buoyed with support surf lifesavers on boards/ski’s and Inflatable Rescue Boats.

In Pairs category only, competitors must race as a pair and at no time during the event separate greater than 50 metres apart.

Race Description:
Stage 1. Run (2.5kms) Starting on the beach in front of the Apollo Bay Surf Lifesaving Club the run takes you west along Apollo Bay main beach to the harbour, then competitors run up Harbour Road and along the marked track next to Trafalger St. Turn left down Barham River stairs and cross the Barham River. Turn left around marker flag clearly visible on the other side of the river. Competitors then beach/rock run following the coast back to the Apollo Bay Harbour beach.

Stage 2. Board Paddle (1.5kms)
On arrival at the Apollo Bay Harbour beach, the competitors will use their surfboard to paddle the buoyed course to Apollo Bay SLSC.

tough hill climb over Baldy Hill.
