Race Description:
The Outrigger Canoe Classic is an 8km mixed, 6-berth outrigger canoe (OC6) race, which requires competitors to negotiate moderate (<4ft) breaking waves on 2 occasions. Each outrigger canoe team requires a minimum of 2 female paddlers.

The course is 2-laps of a 4km triangle course set out with marker buoys in front of the Apollo Bay Surf Life Saving Club.

The start will be a standing beach start with the craft at the waters edge.

The finish will be a 30m run up the beach.

Prizes/Medallions will be awarded to ALL RACE CATEGORIES (1st, 2nd & 3rd).

Race Confirmation & Race Kit:
Check-in for Race Confirmation and pick up your Race Kit (including Race Number) from 7.00am – 2:30pm on Saturday 27th February 2010 or 7:30pm – 10:30pm on Friday 26th February 2010 at the Apollo Bay Surf Lifesaving Club.

Race Rules:

• Craft must be seaworthy with fixed buoyancy.

• Craft must be an AOCRA approved OC6 outrigger canoe.

• All craft will be scrutineered at Apollo Bay Beach, in front of the Apollo Bay Surf Life Saving Club prior to event start. All craft will be viewed 5 minutes before start of race and any craft without scrutineer pass will be automatically disqualified and not permitted to race.

• Competitors must follow the designated set course, which is manned, by water marshals and surf lifesavers.

All competitors MUST wear an approved buoyancy vest.

• No extraneous aids are allowed. This includes, but is not limited to fins, engines, sails and personal support teams.

• Wetsuits are permissible.

• Competitors will be required to have an official mark and race number on their arm, which must remain on the individual throughout the event. No competitor shall be recorded as a finisher unless carrying the official mark and number on their arm.

• Organisers reserve the right to accept, reject and cancel entries.

• Protests must be made in writing and given to the Race Director within fifteen minutes of the announcement of the provisional results. All decisions of the Race Director will be final.

• Race officials shall have the ultimate and final authority to remove a competitor from the race if the competitor is judged to be physically incapable of continuing the race without the risk of injury.

• Each entrant must sign the indemnity declaration on the Entry Form before the event. If under 18, the parent or guardian must sign. The organisers reserve the right to reject or cancel any entry at any time.
