Race Description:
A beach start 1200m swim in front of the Apollo Bay Surf Lifesaving Club. The course is clearly marked by buoys, with lifesavers positioned on boards, skis and inflatable rescue boats patrolling the course. The swim heads straight out for 300m, then turns left for 600m and then returns to the beach 300m, finishing with a 30m run up the beach.

Female U16, U18, Open (18-30), 30-39 Masters, 40-49 Masters, 50 + Masters

Competitors can enter and collect prizes in only ONE category. Once a competitor has competed in the event, they cannot change categories.

Prizes/Medallions will be awarded to ALL RACE CATEGORIES (1st, 2nd & 3rd).

Race Confirmation & Race Kit:
Check-in for Race Confirmation and pick up your Race Kit (including Race Number & Race T-shirt) from 6.00am – 10.00am on Saturday 9th February 2008 or 7:30pm – 10:30pm on Friday 8th February 2008 at the Apollo Bay Surf Lifesaving Club.

 

Race Rules:
• Competitors must follow the designated set course, which is manned by water marshals and surf lifesavers.

• Swimmers are only permitted to swim once. No multiple category entries are allowed.

• No extraneous aids are allowed. This includes, but is not limited to fins, boards, snorkels, floatation gear and personal support teams.

• Wetsuits are permissible

• Goggles are not mandatory, but are recommended.

• Swimmers will be required to have an official mark and race number on their arm, which must remain on the individual throughout the event. No swimmer shall be recorded as a finisher unless carrying the official mark and number on their arm.

• Swimmers are required to wear the official swim cap provided with Race Kit.

• Organisers reserve the right to accept, reject and cancel entries.

• Protests must be made in writing and given to the Race Director within fifteen minutes of the announcement of the provisional results. All decisions of the Race Director will be final.

• Race officials shall have the ultimate and final authority to remove a competitor from the race if the competitor is judged to be physically incapable of continuing the race without the risk of injury.

• Each entrant must sign the indemnity declaration on the Entry Form before the event. If under 18, the parent or guardian must sign. The organisers reserve the right to reject or cancel any entry at any time.

*Cash prize money is for the first 3 fastest male swim times and the first 3 fastest female swim times, from all race categories combined.

Cash prize money has been allocated based on volume of male and female entries.
